I'm Elina Sondore, a Latvian artist based in the Basque Country, Spain, with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from De Montfort University, UK. I paint all my illustrations by hand using watercolor, driven by a need to express emotion and explore identity through symbolic animal characters, wings, and vivid patterns. My work is inspired by personal experiences, music, and the contrasting influences of growing up in the late 20th century. I often begin with just a loose idea and let the painting evolve naturally, embracing the unexpected and layering details over time. Painting is where I feel most grounded and free—it’s a joyful, meditative process that helps me reflect and connect with the world around me.
