Briefly about the process
February 24, 2025I´m really driven by vivid color and mostly feel like I want to add a whole lot of variety in one same painting. Even if according to all the color canons they don´t really match and obey. It might seem an awkard mixmatch but that is what gets me going from the start to finish and gives me a true anticipation to carry on the process. Sometimes I don´t have a complete idea in mind before starting a painting - just some general starting bits. Or I might have a specific idea which would later take an unexpected direction. The whole elaboration process is a journey full of surprise. That´s what I love about it. And watercolor is a very surprising and yet controllable painting medium itself.
I start with a light pencil sketch but meantime it can vary while I add the paint. Sometimes it´s difficult to decide when a painting is finished because I like to work a lot on details. Other times I have to put it aside for a while, start another one and come back later to finish. To get unsaturated from it, so to speak. To unclutter the vision.
Lately I´ve been creating more of a composition paintings with a lot of pattern elements. Sometimes they are sets and series of various pieces to tell a better story. The ideas are always related with conscious or unconscious dreams, observations, my thought processes that lead me through the day, or simply thoughts in visual that have been in my mind in the present or past.
